Files ending in the DAT extension are links to the files
provided by PacTech Data and Researvh, Pasadena CA.  The original
codebook is called TR-C90_CY00_SV-G98-RG-G98.DOC.

DATA:

Files beginning in SWDB are produced by the Statewide Database and
the codebook called SWDB_G96_TR-C90.cb

This codebook incorporates the following changes from the PDR data:
Added Fields:
FIPS      N006000  Census County Code (001-115)   (SWDB)
TRACTKEY  C015000  Census (TIGER) unique tract ID (SWDB)   

Changed Field Names.  These names were changed for consistency with the other data sets:
The majority of field names in the original dataset were in lower case.  These have been
converted.

Codebook constructed 1/4/01

Data Changes:
This is the only election data set in which PDR used FIPS for county codes.
Accordingly, what they called COUNTY has been reverted to the normal alphabetic
sequence, which FIPS represents the fips code of the county.

FORMATS:

Files ending in ASC are fixed-field ASCII files, derived from the PDR
files according to the above criteria.
