On Tuesday, October 12, a redistricting meeting was held to determine the location of elementary students next year in the Carmel Clay School System. That meeting's proposed minutes explain some what what is expected for the future. The current proposed redistricting map will shuffle many elementary and middle school students from the schools they currently attend to others schools in the Carmel area.

As this is only a preliminary proposal, there are the possibility that the redistricting will change before a final decision is made. Many parents in the Carmel area are upset over the changes as this could potentially disturb their child(ren)'s current educational schedule.

The meetings will continue to help answer questions, understand the new redistricting process (which will take place in a total of four phases), dispel myths and teach the community how they can get involved. No final decisions are expected until sometime in December. Whatever the decision, the plan will be implemented for the 2011-2012 school year.

The next meetings regarding elementary redistricting are: October 26, November 9, November 23 and December 7.

The next meetings regarding middle school redistricting are: October 19, November 2, November 16, November 30 and December 14.
